TRIBE – afro funk jam sessions vol.2 – hosted by The Mabon Dawud Republic

The TRIBE is back on the Kassa boat, and this time hosted by The Mabon Dawud Republic, the legendary afrobeat – afro-funk supergroup responsible for organizing the Budapest Felabrations at Trafó that had everyone dancing for hours, celebrating Fela Kuti’s birthday in marathon concerts.
This band started as a one-off project, decided to stick together, toured Ghana and released an album and an EP through Budabeats Records, featuring highlife and afrobeat stars like Pat Thomas and Dele Sosimi.

Extremely rare in Budapest’s nightlife, The Mabon Dawud Republic now returns with an even more special repertoire: guitar-driven music inspired by Angola’s rich musical culture.
The line-up this time:
Levente Boros – drums
Zsolt Krecsmáry – drums
Ernő Hock – bass
Ádám Mészáros – guitár
Ábel Horváth – guitar
Szabolcs Bognár – keys
Fanni Zahár – saxophone, flute
Gábor Weisz – saxophone, flute
Murad Abbas – trombone
Andris Weil – percussion
and their guests:
Domi Kosztolánszki – saxophone
Fefe Alexi – drums
Ferenc Vértesi – guitar
András Koroknay ‘SunMa’ – bass
After the concert and jam session, Àbáse aka Szabi Bognár will be spinning his favourite records, coming to us straight from Berlin!
TRIBE – Budapest’s new communal musical adventure aboard the Kassa boat, a recurring night of improvisation where some of the city’s most exciting musicians share the stage, aiming to break down genre boundaries and explore what happens when members of different bands meet in a spontaneous, shared musical world – inspired by the traditions of Afrobeat and global grooves.
