Hét Hat Club was born in Budapest’s underground scene, where art-punks from ruin bars, international nomads, and dance house outlaws collide. The band’s street musicians have traveled across Europe as well as North, Central, and South America. Along the way, they gathered a rich palette of rhythms and stylistic elements to bring Hungarian and Carpathian–Balkan folk songs back in a modern form. Alongside the unique lyrics of Kjartan Code – “the American outlaw” – they sing in English, Hungarian, Romanian, Spanish, and Turkish. Their sound is often described as gyp-hop, maneleton, or turbo folk jazz.

The Várkonyi Csibészek are a truly unique group: street musicians, travelers, artists, stunt performers, or clowns – perhaps all at once, even if they themselves can’t quite decide; one thing is certain, though: whenever they play, they always create an electrifying atmosphere.
